Prototype 2 Progress
Prototype 2 for Sephil Saga is well under way right now, and most of my time has been devoted to the coding aspects, trying to get it out to you guys. I thought we only had a little more to do; I was sort of right, sort of wrong. I forgot that marking off "Spaceports" on the list meant having WORKING spaceports, so the mission BBS, trade center, shipyard, bar, etc, all that stuff had to be working. Most of it is now! We're down to the Bar, the Trade Center, and the Mission BBS. We finally figured out the format for the missions as well, so I can do the Mission BBS. Roscoe is hard at work on the equations for our Trade Center. The Bar is a bit of a holdup, see the forums for a discussion on what to do with that. There's also been a whole bunch of stuff at the engine level that's been changed, stuff that's been really needed for a long time, that has gotten done. Basically, we're taking stuff out of Proto 3 at this point in time because it needed to be done to have a real Proto 2. So, once again, my time estimate is off, but the work is not.
In any case, I've been putting in over 40 hours a week just coding for the last 3 weeks or so. So if it looks like nothing is happening (judging from activity on the forums and blogs and wiki that would be a reasonable assumption), don't worry. I've been working like dog, and the other coders have as well. I will be making a zipped-up version available for everybody to look at ASAP.
